coronado interior design

This brand new build in Coronado, CA was a dream to furnish. To compliment the light hardwood floors and white paint we balanced dark and light tones with a pop of navy. The designed a custom sofa from our shop for the living room and used texture and pattern to breakup the large sectional. In the dining nook we used a warm wood table with black dining chairs with cute botanical prints on the walls. In the bedroom we used our Sonoma bed from the shop in a creamy white with nail-heads.

The change from before to after on this project was drastic! Even matching up the corresponding photos took us a minute and once we did we couldn’t believe what a transformation this home went through. Re-orienting the main staircase and creating another bathroom and bedroom from the extremely large master made this house more functional. Let us know what you think in the comments!

We just loved working on the gorgeous home in Coronado, CA. By changing the entire layout of the home we were able to add another bedroom and two more bathrooms. The galley kitchen was closed off from the rest of the house and we took down the wall creating a large dream kitchen with high end appliances, built in bar and desk, two islands with ample storage and a gorgeous wood pantry. By changing the orientation of the staircase and raising the ceilings upstairs we create the ultimate game room for hanging out and taking in the view of the San Diego Bay. The master bedroom/bathroom was so large before the remodel that we were able to create another bathroom and bedroom. The master suite has a large bathroom and walk in closet with laundry. Each room has a special charm and nod to our adorable beach town.

Design 101 // Custom Upholstery

Bungalow 56 custom upholstery line has arrived! From sofas, sectionals, chairs, headboards, pillows + poufs we have it all! When designing a space it can be tricky finding fabrics, patterns, and tones that all work together. Having the ability to choose from a variety of fabrics, woods, leathers and styles makes the designing possibilities endless!

We created interest in this living room by blending color and texture together. We did a linen fabric on the sofa, leather on the ottoman and a velvet with nail-heads on the chairs.

For the formal dining room we did custom slipcovered chairs. Not only are these chairs gorgeous but comfortable too! Win win!

Project Tour // Adena Project

We had so much fun transforming this formal living and dining room into a space that our client could entertain and feel relaxed. The sofa, ottoman, living room chairs and dining chairs are from our new upholstery line available in the shop. We used a creamy grey fabric for the main sofa, a gorgeous velvet on the living room chairs and blended those together with a cognac leather ottoman. We had the dining room credenza and sliding barn door painted a dark grey to add some contrast in the room and kept the decor simple with creams, greys and whites.

Design 101 // Vintage Rugs

There is just something so enticing about a good vintage rug. The subtle worn corners and muted colors with pops of vibrant knots weaved through-out tell a story of old and new. Imagining where a rug has been and the story it could tell is part of the intrigue. Our all time favorite vintage rug is a good Oushak rug. They can be seen in many of our projects styled in kitchens, bathroom and entry ways. Their muted color tones and subtle patterns make the fit seamlessly into any space. These rugs aren't as expensive as some of the Persian and Turkish vintage rugs and we find that they are a perfect fit for budgets and busy lifestyles of our clients.

Vintage rugs provide a much needed softness, texture and pattern into spaces that are saturated with hard surfaces (i.e. kitchens and bathrooms). Another great place to incorporate a vintage rug is down a long hallway. It adds instant character and charm.

We are firm believers that homes should be lived in and enjoyed so we always recommend purchasing a rug you love but at a price point that you won't be afraid to utilize in the main spaces of your home. If they are in a high traffic area of the home we suggest having them cleaned every couple of years by a professional, who can also mend any fraying edges. Keeping a little card on file with what type of rug, what year it was made, and where it was purchased is a fun way to continue the legacy of the rug and it's vintage story.
